ASLC candidates forum unorganized

The Associated Students of Laney College (ASLC) candidates' forum on Tuesday, April 8 was "disappointingly brief, considering the length of time of an officer's term and amount of influence a position in office wields," the Laney Tower reports.

The forum, which start an half hour late, "initially set up as an hour-long, open-air forum where ASLC hopefuls could introduce themselves, voice their reasons for running and impart their plans if elected, the event turned into a thirty-minute mix of hip-hop beats and languid bunkum."

ASLC President Yvonne Thompson announced herself as the only candidate running for the position of Student Trustee. According to records, a BCC student named Nicole Tobor has also qualified for the ballot.

The only other candidates in attendance were ASLC Secretary candidate Courtney Hom, senator candidate Valeska Hildalgo and presidential candidate Reza Mohajerinejad.

Elections will take place May 6 and 7 in the Laney College Student Center from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Read the complete article on LaneyTower.com.
